The Chaffee County Clerk and Recorder oversees ballot access for candidates interested in running for Chaffee County elected offices including: Assessor, Clerk & Recorder, Commissioner, Coroner, Sheriff, and Treasurer. 

Running for County Office

Review the 2024 Chaffee County Candidate Guide. 

Fill out and return the appropriate Candidate forms to the County and Secretary of State offices.

Chaffee County does not oversee ballot access for candidates in federal, state, municipal, school or special districts. 

If you are considering running for municipal, school, or special districts please contact the Designated Election Official for that office. Municipal, school, and special districts contact info.  

If you are considering running for a statewide office, such as Governor, Secretary of State, Treasurer, State Attorney, House or Senate in the Colorado General Assembly or for a District Attorney seat, please contact your political party and/or the Colorado Secretary of State for information and procedures.
